Bekki Marangou
The face of Blush
I am Bekki, the owner of Blush Beauty Barn and an experienced beauty therapist. I completed my level 3 beauty qualification in 2004. I had my first salon job in the beautiful village Coggeshall, in Essex. I stayed here for a few years before making the decision to go mobile. At this point my main focus was wedding make up. I loved the buzz of the bridal atmosphere but I still continued to do all other beauty treatments in between weddings. Over the years I have continued to learn new skills to keep up with the forever growing beauty industry.

In 2011 my husband and I welcomed our first daughter, Darci Rae, in to our lives. By this point I had already stepped away from doing so many weddings. I began to work in an office along side my beauty business. Having a child made me believe I needed the security of employment, knowing what I know now, I realize this was extra work I didn't need. However I loved working with the people in my office and I learnt a lot about myself. I was encouraged to set goals and actually work hard to achieve them.

In 2014 we welcomed our 2nd daughter, Harper Rose, into our family. I was still struggling to do both jobs. My beauty business was growing but I could only see my clients outside of my office job. The hours I was putting in was hard emotionally and physically. I felt like I was missing so much, I was working until 11pm most nights and back in the office the next morning. All I wanted was to be flexible for my children. In 2018 I hit my first big goal I was encouraged to set. I got the keys to my first salon. A small unit just for me. I loved it. It meant no time wasted traveling between clients. However my hours didn't seem to improve.
December 2019 I hit my next big goal. I left my office job. I was now back to just the one job, my passion, my salon. The following year was a rollercoaster. We were all thrown into unknown of the Coronavirus pandemic and the salon was forced to temporarily shut. At first I found this hard, I was worried about my business. When I was working both jobs I feared my children not wanting or needing me. I don't know why I ever worried. We are and have always been incredibly close. Having the summer of 2020 in lockdown gave me time I would never of had with my family. In a weird way I felt like it was time given to me to heal, to realize what I've got. My husband was amazing throughout this whole period. He worked through all the lockdowns supporting us all.

December 2020 I hit another goal, I moved into my current unit. A bigger better salon. 2 days after I got the keys we were in another lockdown! Not ideal but I knew this time we would be fine financially and my business would return like it did after the summer. The lockdown lasted a really long time! I'm not great at doing nothing so I set up another business in this time, Mango Threads. I make personalized clothing using raw edge applique.

When I could return to work in April 2021 I was pleased to return with Alesha joining me. Alesha now works from Blush Beauty Barn running her own nail business, Alesha's Nails. Things are going amazingly and I hope to continue growing my business. I will keep setting goals and I hope I reach them all!
